Week 2

Two weeks ago I started some seedlings, last weekend (1/15&1/16) I competed the set-up and placed the seedlings into the systems!  The tomato seedlings didn't make it and I don't know why but the rest are doing very well.

Getting Started...

I began reading about hydroponic gardening about 1 year ago.  The more I read the more fascinated I became, I decided to give it a try.  I planned a trial that would provide me with an adequate knowledge and scale of operation so that I would have a realistic chance of succeeding and a fair opportunity to determine if this would be an enduring interest of mine.

I have enrolled in an online hydroponics class through ACS Distance Learning based in Australia and the UK. I have purchased a 4x4 grow tent, 2 hid lights, an aeroponics system, a top-feed system, and a wick system.  I set up a 20 gallon aquarium as a deep water culture raft system.  It seems to be that in order to learn, that's what it takes.  The lights are essential, the tent improves the plant environment but also makes living with HID lights in an apartment possible.  Having a variety of hobby-sized commercial systems while in dialogue with the experts at ACS will give me a range of experiences with serious direction and feedback.

I have just completed my first online class assignment and my tents, lights, and systems have arrived.  I am ready to get started!

A Tribute to my Mom and Dad

Bless my parents.  They have died recently after long loving lives.  My sincere and hardworking father left me a little money, part of that I have used to launch my hydroponics garden.  Thank you.
